The truck driver, 43-year-old William Gustafson of Lititz, Penn., was not injured.Motor Carrier Safety Section officers performed a safety check on the truck.First Squad detectives impounded the Saturn and are continuing the investigation.
I keep tossing around the idea of why Indiana doesn’t seed both the state basketball and football tourneys. After all, they did away with the one-class tournament, so why are they still hanging on to the old method of a blind draw? It was really brought to light this year when Ben Davis played Warren Central in a round one sectional football game.The IHSAA usually uses money as a factor whenever they don’t want to change something. Computers can seed these tournaments, so that takes the cost factor out. Just use the Sagrin power rankings and go from there. It is sad when two very strong teams have to play each other in the first game of a sectional. This especially hurts the crowds for further games in basketball when there is no doubt after game one who will win the sectional.Knowing how hard it is to get the IHSAA to change even minor things, don’t look for any movement on this idea any time soon.
