Sign up for our COVID-19 newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news throughout New York A 38-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a truck in Commack early Thursday morning.Suffolk County police said Anthony Jacovino of North Babylon was riding a motorcycle southbound on Commack Road when his bike collided with a westbound Dodge pickup truck at the corner of Vanderbilt Parkway at 5 a.m.Jacovino was ejected from the motorcycle, which caught on fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The truck driver, 50-year-old George Custance of South Plainfield, New Jersey, was not injured.Second Squad detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call them at 631-854-8252.

Of those, 31,196 people have recovered, or just above 72%.Looking at numbers in our listening area as of 11 o’clock this morning: a total of 1737 positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported since the start of the pandemic — 554 in Cerro Gordo; 431 in Wright; 179 in Franklin; 106 in Hancock; 100 in Butler; 97 in Floyd; 76 in Mitchell; 73 in Kossuth; 69 in Winnebago and 52 in Worth. 926 of those 1737 positive cases in the area have come since July 1st, or 53.3%. 82% of Cerro Gordo County’s 554 cases have come in July.Of those 1737 positive cases, 1048 have recovered — 380 in Wright; 195 in Cerro Gordo; 99 in Franklin; 81 in Butler; 77 in Hancock; 70 in Floyd; 65 in Mitchell; 33 in Kossuth; 30 in Winnebago; and 18 in Worth — for a percentage recovered of just under 55%.Eight more people in the area have been hospitalized to bring the number of COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized as of July 27th to 20.
